Classical Islamic Learning Degree Program(CIL)

Course Description:

A 5-6 year degree program for serious students who, in addition to learning the translation and commentary of the entire Qur’an, wish to learn classical Arabic and study Arabic texts of tafsir, hadith, fiqh, usul, and other disciplines that have been traditionally taught in the Alimah course. This is a 2-part program. Admissions are initially offered into the first part of the program, which lasts 3 years. Based on academic achievement, commitment, and dedication to spiritual development, students will be selected for admission into the second part, which lasts 3 additional years.

Program Outline*:

Qur’an:
This module will cover the entire translation and commentary of the 30th Juz of Qur’an, highlighting spiritual insights and practical advice through the meanings of the Qur’an.

Hadith:
Through this module, students will learn to appreciate the wisdom in Prophetic teachings and Sunnah.

Islamic Law (Fiqh):
This module will impart students with basic knowledge regarding legal rulings of ritual purification, menstruation, salah, fasting, zakah, ritual sacrifice, marriage and divorce through classical Hanafi manuals.

Arabic:
This module comprises of Arabic syntax, morphology and spoken Arabic. It enables students to learn the Arabic language at a basic level such that they are given tools to understand and navigate through the Arabic of Qur’an, Hadith and classical texts.

Tajweed:
This module will enable students to properly read the Qur’an and cover the basic rules of recitation.

*The students will first complete a 5-week foundation course for CIL in which they will be taught Qur’an, Hadith, Tajweed and Basic Arabic.

Instruments for Assessment: Students will be assessed through quizzes, assignments, and an annual exam for each course/subject.

Who should consider?

Girls and women who want to acquire authentic knowledge of deen under guidance of ulema of Ahl-e-Sunnah wal jama’ah in the comforts of their home. They should be able to give at least 15 hours of studying per week to the course.

The program provides flexibility for university students, working women and mothers.

What are the pre requisites?

  • Age: 16 +
  • Access to Internet & headphones
  • Ability to read, write and understand Urdu as well as understanding of basic English.

    There is no difference between the Urdu online and Alimah Program Onsite except for a little flexibility in time for the online students.

    Dear Fareeha, the Academy will iA appoint to you its course teachers, Make available to you the option of buying books from the academy. Onsite CIL course is being offered in Urdu..but for beginners to keep it light and easy we use bilingual english and urdu as a medium of teaching. Mostly Urdu
